ADAM LAMBERT HONORED AT 2011 LOS ANGELES EQUALITY AWARDS

Dressed to impress, Adam Lambert attended the 2011 Los Angeles Equality Awards at the Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills on Saturday (August 13).

Equality California honored the American Idol alum, along with Facebook, in this year’s annual ceremony.

“We’re thrilled to honor Adam Lambert and Facebook whose work has been a catalyst for social change and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) equality,” says Roland Palencia, Equality California’s new executive director. “Their courage and leadership in entertainment and social media have helped Californians become more supportive of LGBT rights.”

Adam participated in the “It Gets Better” Campaign and donated proceeds from his “Aftermath Remix” to the Trevor Project.

During presenter Kathy Griffin‘s speech, she was able to coerce Adam into joining her for a spontaneous rendition of Mad World.

Prior to presenting the award, Kathy warned attendees to grab their flip cameras and cell phones because “we’re going to have a moment!” She then broke into Mad World and asked Adam to join her. He wouldn’t come on stage to join in, but when Kathy was handed a portable microphone, she went offstage to his table and he readily sang with her.

  1. Unbelievable. He totally deserved this for his honesty and hard work in his career and his support for his own charities and the GLBT community in general. He’s a fearless advocate for equal rights and is never afraid to speak his mind. Apart from that he’s a genuinely wonderful person and a great example to our younger generation.

  2. A great article, thank you! And you can catch an even better video of this “water cooler moment” on YouTube, look for Suz526.She always has the BEST videos of Lambert!
I’m so proud to say I’ve been a huge fan since I heard his Idol audition and my husband and I wondered “what in the HECK is a guy THAT talented..that far AHEAD of everyone else who is or ever has been on that show, doing there?”
Now we know that instead of “paying his dues” in some garage band, etc..he was busy for years paying those dues in musical theater here and abroad. He will be, in a word, ICONIC.Simply the BEST.
His honesty, work ethic, intelligence, charisma natural warmth and boyish enthusiasm bundled into that gorgeous 6’1″ frame make him a walking dream, no matter what your sexual orientation!
His confidence, which wasn’t always there…is also extremely alluring. No cockiness…just sexy, honest confidence.
In a nutshell, he IS an inspiration.

  3. Adam is lookin srsly hott. Love that dude.

  4. There isn’t celebrity that has done more for the LGBT community and it was all done from his heart. He doesn’t do it to get recognition or publicity like some other celebrities. Adam deserved the Equality Idol Award hands down. Loved the short duet with Kathy Griffin She is a doll also.

  5. Adam is amazing…!!!!
    I loved him . . !!! 🙂
