Ashton Kutcher dropped by the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City today (August 24) to tape tonight’s instalment of the Late Show with David Letterman.

After posing with fans and signing a few photographs, the movie star-turned-sitcom actor headed inside the theater to promote his new gig on Two and a Half Men.

Before his appearance, he tweeted: “Getting ready to have a chat with Dave Letterman. The show will air tonight. Little concerned about fatwa situation.”

As you may recall, a contributor to a jihadist website posted a threat of violence against Dave last week because the comedian had made fun of al-Qaida leaders on a previous show. Dave, back from vacation Monday, played the threat for monologue laughs.

During the taping, Dave asked Aston if his bowtie was bullet-proof. T he actor replied that “you can’t be too careful” sitting next to a guy facing a threat.

Ashton joined CBS’ Two and a Half Men after Charlie Sheen was fired. He and Dave predicted success for the revamped sitcom.

“I think it’s going to go through the roof,” said Ashton. “I’ve been laughing really hard.”
