Tina Fey was the girl of the hour this evening (November 9) as friends and colleagues gathered at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC to fete the 30 Rock star.

Tina was the recipient of the 13th annual Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, following in the footsteps of great comedians including Richard Pryor, Carl Reiner, Whoopi Goldberg, Bob Newhart, Lily Tomlin, Lorne Michaels and last year’s honoree, Bill Cosby.

The 40-year-old star is the award’s youngest recipient to date. She looked radiant in a black dress by Oscar de la Renta as she worked the red carpet ahead of the celeb-packed soiree.

A star-studded lineup of entertainers including Steve Carell, Jimmy Fallon, Jon Hamm, Jennifer Hudson, Jane Krakowski, Seth Meyers, Tracy Morgan, Amy Poehler and Betty White were all on hand to pay tribute to Tina, an alum of NBC’s Saturday Night Live.

During the show, Seth, who worked alongside Tina during SNL‘s ‘Weekend Update’, noted that it was a huge deal “to have a contemporary win the Mark Twain award.” He said Tina’s impact is “just what you learn from her. You can’t learn talent but you can learn work ethic.”

Good pal Amy was thrilled for her friend. “I’m genuinely thrilled and not at all surprised,” she said, after noting that Tina’s impression of Sarah Palin was her favourite. “That one’s a keeper!”

As for Tina? She kept it humble when she took to the stage. “All of the other people who have received this prize are heroes of mine,” she said. “I keep thinking (I have) to tell them they’ve made a terrible mistake.”

The awards, accolades and honors keep pouring in for Betty White.

Fulfilling one of her lifelong dreams, the 88-year-old actress was made an honorary ranger by the U.S. Forest Service at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC today (November 9).

Betty was presented with a badge and a ranger’s Stetson hat, which she promptly put on during a ceremony at the Kennedy Center.

When Smokey Bear arrived mid-ceremony, the Golden Girls star gave him a big bear hug and later asked if she could take him with her. She settled for a toy Smokey with its own small hat.

Betty has said that as a young girl she wanted to be a forest ranger, but women weren’t allowed to have the job.

“Wilderness is harder and harder to find these days on this beautiful planet, and we’re abusing our planet to the point of almost no return,” she said at the ceremony. “In my heart I’ve been a forest ranger all my life, but now I’m official.”
