Ellen DeGeneres did her worst impression of a supermodel as she walked the runway at the Richie Rich Spring 2011 runway show during Fashion Week in New York City on Thursday (September 9).

The show opened on a whimsical note with ballet dancers performing on the runway, around what ended up being a faux “DJ” booth where a model mimed turning tables to kick the show into party gear.

From the very first look on socialite Tinsley Mortimer, the show was a disaster. Rather than the fun and excitement fashion show attendees have come to expect from Rich’s former Heatherette line, the frocks were all predictable and lacked flair.

And after previous shows including Paris Hilton and porn queen Jenna Jameson, the stunt-casting of Ellen fell flat. Sorta like her stint on American Idol.

Making the most of a sunny afternoon, Ellen DeGeneres was spotted taking her lovely wife Portia de Rossi out for lunch in Los Angeles on Thursday (August 12).

Portia, who has been married to Ellen for two years, has just recently filed to have her name legally changed to Portia Lee James DeGeneres.

Meanwhile, Ellen went from judge to contestant as she danced on the finale of So You Think You Can Dance? alongside dancer tWitch last night.

The 52-year-old talk show host had reportedly practiced for one month for the special performance.

She agreed to perform in place of competition favourite Alex Wong, who was out with a foot injury.

“I had so much fun and it broke my heart when I saw the injury, and as a joke I said it would be fun to do and it became a reality,” said Ellen after her performance. “This is so fun, I hope this is an inspiration, everybody, National Dance Day was for me. It doesn’t matter if you have ever had a dance class in your life, which I haven’t, maybe you couldn’t tell. But everybody should do this, it is so much fun.”
