ELLEN POMPEO’S MONDAY HIGHLIGHTS

Posted in Ellen Pompeo on August 23, 2011 by fadedblog

Looking good in Hollywood takes effort and maintenance. Nobody knows that better than Ellen Pompeo.

Stepping out for her monthly touch-up, the Grey‘s Anatomy actress was spotted leaving a hair salon in West Hollywood on Monday (August 22) after tending to her tresses.

Meanwhile, Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes recently made headlines after she admitted that she does not yet have the next season completely planned out.

She said that she normally figures out the season finale first but explained that she has been unable to do so this year because of the uncertainty surrounding the show’s cast members.

The contracts for stars including Ellen, Patrick Dempsey, Justin Chambers and Sandra Oh will expire in May, meaning that they may decide to leave the show.

Ellen and Patrick have both already sparked rumours that they will not return for a potential ninth season.

Shonda has now admitted that the uncertainty has affected her planning, saying: “I don’t know what I’m going to do at the end of the season yet. Until we know [who’s coming back], we just don’t know [how the season will end]. So we’re taking it in a different way.”

She continued: “We’re looking at it in segments. We’re planning the first half of the season [at the moment] and then I’ll plan the second half of the season when I know more stuff.”

Shonda, who has previously insisted that Grey’s Anatomy will not end after this season, remained confident about the show’s future.

However, she admitted that she doesn’t know who will return next year, saying: “I have no idea. That’s not my job.”

The new season of Grey’s Anatomy will begin with a two-hour premiere on September 22 on ABC.

‘GREY’S ANATOMY’ GETS MUSICAL

Posted in Ellen Pompeo on November 25, 2010 by fadedblog

Ellen Pompeo isn’t only of those Hollywood types who spends all day in hair and makeup before stepping out.

Looking bare-faced and lovely as ever, the Grey’s Anatomy actress was spotted leaving the gym in Los Angeles on Wednesday (November 24) where she looked lovely even without a spot of face paint.

Meanwhile, the cast of Grey’s are set to follow in the footsteps of hit teen series Buffy The Vampire Slayer, which produced a popular all-singing-all-dancing installment in 2001.

Executive producer Shonda Rhimes is reportedly insists the musical episode will be done tastefully, and claims fans will be surprised by some of the stars’ talent.

She tells TVGuide: “Nobody is going to be dancing and singing down the halls; that’s not our show. Our show is known for its music. I very much wanted to do something that was musical without being a musical…You will be very surprised to discover that some people sing quite well. That’s sort of a little gift to the fans, to discover that people who are not necessarily known for singing have pretty great voices. Also, some people won’t be singing because it doesn’t go with the story. We keep saying that season six and seven are seasons to try anything and everything that we’ve always wanted to do. I’ve wanted to do a musical episode since the first day we started shooting season one. Now, we’re in that place that we have the space to try it.”

ELLEN POMPEO DOES ETALK

Posted in Ellen Pompeo on October 7, 2010 by fadedblog

Ellen Pompeo was all smiles as she visited the etalk Studios at CTV Queen St. HQ Building in Toronto, Canada today (October 7).

Looking casual in cashmere, the 40-year-old actress was on hand for an interview promoting the new season of Grey’s Anatomy.

Ellen is in T.O. for a media tour to discuss the launch of the latest phase of the ‘Every Little Bottom’ initiative — what’s being billed as a first-of-its-kind national diaper drive. It will include a series of local drives, events, a donation from the brand and other activities to come up with as many as two million diapers for babies in need.

Ellen says she finds the numbers relating to moms struggling to provide diapers for their babies “staggering.” But she also views it as a problem that can definitely be fixed.

“I have passion for something when I think there are very, very attainable goals,” she says, “and this certainly is an attainable goal: to bring those numbers down.”

“For every Canadian citizen who have the means, and certainly, there are people out there who have the means with children, who can empathize with these families that are struggling,” she said. “Just buy one package of extra diapers, one extra package a month or a week — whatever you can afford when you’re buying your own diapers can make a huge impact.”

Ellen recalled one in particular — a mother whose child had leukemia, and had to take a leave of absence from work to care for her child, putting her in a situation where she was struggling to make ends meet.

“I think the stories would break your heart regardless, but being a new mother, hearing those stories just break your heart a little deeper.”

ELLEN POMPEO: HEALTHY HOTTIE

Posted in Ellen Pompeo on September 8, 2010 by fadedblog

Ellen Pompeo may be a busy mom and actress but that doesn’t stop her from staying on top of her health.

Taking a break from diaper duty, the 40-year-old Grey’s Anatomy star was spotted grabbing a fruit juice and some snacks in Studio City, CA on Tuesday (September 7) after hitting the gym.

Meanwhile, in addition to filming the upcoming season of Grey’s, Ellen is currently gearing up for her daughter Stella‘s first birthday on September 15.

Just over the long Labor Day weekend, Ellen picked up a few birthday party tips as she attended pal Nicole Richie‘s son’s first birthday.

“Nicole was keeping the party simple to not overwhelm Sparrow,” a source tells People. “Everyone seemed to have a great time.”

While there is no word yet on just what she has planned for her one and only daughter, Ellen says she is loving motherhood and that her life couldn’t be any better: “I am over the moon. Happiness is not that easy to achieve, but having a handsome husband, a beautiful baby, and a great job helps.”

ELLEN POMPEO BEATS THE HEAT ON THE STREETS OF L.A.

Not even a heat wave can stop Ellen Pompeo from tending to her daily duties.

Despite the almost 100°F weather, the 40-year-old actress looked calm, cool and collected as she ran a few errands all by her lonesome.

Meanwhile, in Grey’s Anatomy‘s news, Diane Farr is set to make a guest appearance in a forthcoming episode of the hit ABC series.

The actress will star in the fourth episode of the show’s seventh season. She will play a patient with Huntington’s disease, under the care of Meredith.

Diane previously starred in Rescue Me and Numb3rs. More recently, she has featured in episodes of Desperate Housewives and White Collar.

Grey’s Anatomy returns to ABC on September 23. Diane’s episode is expected to air in October.

ELLEN POMPEO STAYS FIT AND REVEALS A FEW ‘GREY’S ANATOMY’ SPOILERS

Posted in Ellen Pompeo on August 18, 2010 by fadedblog

Ellen Pompeo continues to keep herself in incredible shape.

Tending to her fitness, the 40-year-old actress was spotted stopping off at the gym in Beverly Hills today (August 18) before running errands in Studio City, CA.

Meanwhile, Ellen says Grey’s Anatomy is going to have “some frustrating episodes” when the ABC medical drama returns next month.

Following the tragic Season 6 finale, which saw Meredith’s husband shot and near death, it’s going to take a while for every doctor at Seattle Grace to get back on their feet, but none more so than Meredith — that according to trauma counselor Andrew Perkins (as played by James Tupper).

Perkins must clear each doctor before they can return to the OR, and Meredith is definitely not at the top of that list. “Meredith does get cleared eventually, but not right away; not without some frustrating episodes,” Ellen tells TVGuide. “She’s got to pull out all the tricks and stops to try to get cleared.”

“The role that they have given Meredith is to take care of everybody and to try to make sure that everybody else is OK,” she adds. “She’s the role of the caretaker, which, I guess, is her way of not dealing with her own thing.”

Meredith will struggle with her fellow doctors being cleared, especially since she knows a certain few that shouldn’t be holding a scalpel for a while.

So will this cause her to snap?

“I haven’t seen that yet,” Ellen says of the first four scripts she’s read. “I don’t see a snap in Meredith. I think she’s handling this a little bit better than the other people who are more on the verge. Lexie [Chyler Leigh] and Cristina [Sandra Oh] really, really need more critical attention.”

And finally, after moving in with her, April (Sarah Drew) and Jackson (Jesse Williams), are also set to get a pass back into surgery — though Meredith is none too please about that move.

“[Perkins] comes in and he’s just clearing people and he doesn’t really know them,” she says. “Meredith feels like she knows them, and she really knows that they’re not OK. She can see because she lives and breathes with them every day. He’s coming in and clearing everybody because he thinks they’re fine, and he doesn’t think Meredith’s fine. She’s the one taking care of everybody!”

Grey’s Anatomy returns September 23 on ABC.
