JOAQUIN PHOENIX APOLOGIZES TO DAVID LETTERMAN

Posted in Joaquin Phoenix on September 22, 2010 by fadedblog

Joaquin Phoenix appears on the Late Show with David Letterman this evening (September 22) to apologize for his wacky appearance last year that turned out to be an elaborate piece of performance art.

“You’ve interviewed many, many people and I assumed that you would know the difference between a character and a real person, so — but I apologize,” said the actor. “I hope I didn’t offend you in any way.”

No offense taken, host Dave Letterman replied. Claiming the chance to lob jokes at Joaquin was like batting practice, Dave said: “Every one of them was a dinger!”

Joaquin was clean-cut and shaven today, sans the shaggy beard, unruly hair and sunglasses he wore last year, when he toldDave that he was giving up acting for a rap career. Describing that appearance, Dave said it was “like you slipped and hit your head in the tub.”

Instead, Joaquin was playing a role for filmmaker friend Casey Affleck. The fake documentary on Joaquin’s “career change,” called I’m Still Here, just hit theaters.

JOAQUIN PHOENIX: ‘YOUTH PROMISE ACT’ ACTOR

Posted in Heart Phoenix, Joaquin Phoenix, Rain Phoenix on September 2, 2010 by fadedblog

So much for the whole disheveled aspiring rapper thing!

Joaquin Phoenix was looking every bit the movie star that he is as he attended the Youth Promise Act benefit at the Sunset Tower in West Hollywood on Tuesday (August 31).

Joined by his sister Rain and his mother Heart, the 35-year-old actor was on hand to bring attention to a bill that will provide resources to communities to engage in comprehensive prevention and intervention strategies to decrease juvenile delinquency and criminal street gang activity.

Meanwhile, Joaquin’s rap upcoming documentary, I’m Still Here: The Lost Year of Joaquin Phoenix, is slated to appear in theaters September 10.

When the Casey Affleck-directed flick was first shown to potential buyers, they were still reportedly uncertain whether it was a serious documentary or a mockumentary after seeing “more male frontal nudity than you’d find in some gay porn films and a stomach-turning sequence in which someone feuding with Phoenix defecates on the actor while he’s asleep.”

A SANE AND CLEAN JOAQUIN PHOENIX GRABS TAKEOUT WITH BFF CASEY AFFLECK

Eternally weird actor and star of the new bio-documentary I’m Still Here Joaquin Phoenix was spotted grabbing some take-out for him and director/friend Casey Affleck over the weekend in Los Angeles.

I’m Still Here – The Lost Year of Joaquin Phoenix is due to be released in September and shows the downward spiral of the eccentric actor into drugs, drinking and call girls and features Joaquin frequently nude with long unruly hair and an incredibly massive beard as he pursues his new rap career.

Many are calling it a hoax since the clean-shaven “old” Joaquin keeps popping up looking healthy and sane all over Los Angeles.

Details of the upcoming film have been pretty quiet, so here’s the official description:

The directorial debut of Oscar-nominated actor Casey Affleck, I’m Still Here is a striking portrayal of a tumultuous year in the life of internationally acclaimed actor Joaquin Phoenix. With remarkable access, I’m Still Here follows the Oscar nominee as he announces his retirement from a successful film career in the fall of 2008 and sets off to reinvent himself as a hip-hop musician. Sometimes funny, sometimes shocking, and always riveting, the film is a portrait of an artist at a crossroads. Defying expectations, it deftly explores notions of courage and creative reinvention, as well as the ramifications of a life spent in the public eye.
