Once famously low-key, Katy Perry and Russell Brand are stepping out more and more as a public couple.

Joining forces in New York City, the camera-friendly newlyweds were all lovey dovey as they attended the Change Begins From Within event hosted by eccentric director David Lynch.

Following the event, Katy tweeted: “Tonight’s message: water the root, enjoy the fruit!”

Meanwhile, Katy turned to her fans asking them to help her pick her next single.

Followers were encouraged via Twitter to weigh in on what song from her Teenage Dream album should be released next.

The I Kissed A Girl star tweeted: “People u are the reason why I’m here, so what song off of Teenage Dream do u want to blow up next?! Put a # next to the song YOU want!”

She later added: “Thanks for all your great suggestions for the next single today! Your voice has been heard! We’re on the same page…”

A couple who dresses together, stays together — just ask Russell Brand and Katy Perry!

The newlyweds arrived to the première of Russell’s new film The Tempest in Los Angeles on Monday (December 6) wearing matching grey outfits.

While funnyman Russell wore a velvet suit in the subdued colour, pop diva Katy chose an asymmetric lace creation in a different shade for the event held at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood.

So, who’s behind the wardrobe choice? Credit/blame Russell.

“Russell is very hands-on with all Katy’s dresses and loves giving his opinions. He always tells her to show off what God has given her,” a source tells the Daily Star. “Russell now really gets involved with what Katy wears. He gets a buzz helping with those decisions.”

Following her performances the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and the Grammy Concert, Katy Perry put on a glittery gold number as she performed during the VH1 Divas Salute the Troops event at the MCAS Miramar in Miramar, CA on Friday (December 3).

Joined by R&B singer Keri Hilson, country crooner Jennifer Nettles and rapstress Nicki Minaj, the California Gurls singer had the crowd on their feed as she performed an updated version of Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, a 1940 hit for the Andrews Sisters.

Later, Katy teamed a sequinned pair of blue hotpants with a stars and stripes vest top as she rocked the stage solo performing a string of her catchy hits.

It comes after the 26-year-old admitted she asked VH1 to downsize her chest in the posters advertising the show, tweeting: “I was the one who asked VH1 to tone down my digitalised image on the poster, particularly the size of my chest.”

The skin baring didn’t end there. Unfortunately. Host Kathy Griffin, who has just celebrated her 50th birthday, raised the bar as she stripped off to a camouflage bikini and belt made of bullets, which she unselfconsciously teamed with a pair of high heeled PVC boots.

And, oh yeah, Snooki and The Situation were also there. For some reason or another.

The television event, to be broadcast on Sunday (December 5), will feature female acts performing at a Marine Corps Air Station in San Diego and at an undisclosed military base in the Middle East.

Katy Perry had a busy day of rehearsals in Miramar, CA today (December 2).

Joined by R&B singer Keri Hilson and country crooner Jennifer Nettles, the pop star was seen on stage during day two of rehearsals for VH1 Divas Salute the Troops presented by the USO.

While perfecting the show, Katy tweeted: “I LOVE IT HERE! I feel SO safe & there’s a STARBUCKS on base?! Oh sh*t… I’m gonna join the Marines! PLUS camo is super trendy!”

The VH1 Divas Salute the Troops concert event will be televised on Sunday (December 5) at 9:00 PM on VH1.

Friday’s opening number will feature Katy, Keri, Jennifer and rapstress Nicki Minaj teaming for an updated version of Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, a 1940 hit for the Andrews Sisters.

“The show is very Bob Hope-ish, and that’s ultimately the source of inspiration, just to have that feeling again and the Hollywood glamour,” said Divas creative director Laurie Ann Gibson, who has choreographed hit videos for Katy, Nicki, Lady Gaga and many other pop stars. “When we open the show, it will feel like Bob Hope — iconic.”

Katy Perry certainly knows how to dress for the occasion.

The perky pop star glittered in gold as she attended the Grammy Nominations Concert Live!! event at Club Nokia in Los Angeles on Wednesday (December 1).

Katy Perry is prepping herself for the Grammys.

Dressed in another one of her whacky outfits, the California Gurls singer performed on stage at the Grammy Nominations Live!! rehearsals at Club Nokia in Los Angeles on Tuesday (November 30).

Meanwhile, Katy says it was “always the plan” to be a pin-up pop sensation.

She appeared on CBS’s The Early Show on Monday where she reflected on her eventful year with presenter Maggie Rodriguez.

Asked whether life can possibly get any better, the blue-eyed brunette replied: “I hope so, I don’t want to be peaking at 26. But I have dreams and they’re really, really big.”

With her quirky talent and fiery streak, the singer has quickly become a household name despite being relatively unknown just two years ago.

Asked whether she ever dreamed she would catapult to fame as a sexy pin-up singer she said: “I think that was always in the back of my mind, that was the plan.”

As for her next mission? Katy says she’s aiming for a coveted Grammy Award.

“Grammys are like catching shooting stars,” she smiled. “Hopefully one day I’ll catch one.”
