Madonna flew to Mexico City on Monday (November 29) to open the first Hard Candy Fitness club, part of a global chain she and her business partners are unveiling around the world.

More than 700 guests, including most of the club’s new members and Mexico City mayor Marcelo Ebrard, attended the opening, along with VIPs hand-picked by the 52-year-old pop music icon.

Named after her last album, the Hard Candy Fitness center is a partnership between Madonna, her manager Guy Oseary and Mark Mastrov, founder and CEO of 24 Hour Fitness — the world’s largest privately owned fitness center chain.

The Mexico City gym is set in a lavish, three-story, 3000 square meter (32,000 square foot) space in the Mexican capital’s exclusive Lomas Altas neighbourhood.

“I have a history with Mexico,” said Madonna, wearing a black and white-striped dress with boots. “I have a connection that I have always felt anyways because of my love and interest in Frida Kahlo.”

Madonna’s group said it expects in the coming months to open more fitness centers in Argentina, Brazil, Russia and other unspecified countries in Europe and Asia.

In other news, Madge said she is getting ready for another busy year in 2011 that will include a new movie and an album that would follow on the steps of her highly successful Hard Candy studio album.

Madonna makes an appearance via satellite on The Ellen DeGeneres Show today (November 9). Among the topics of discussion? Bullying.

“I’m incredibly disturbed and saddened by the overwhelming number of teen suicides that have been reported lately because of bullying,” says Madonna, adding that she felt like she had to say something. “The gay community has been incredibly supportive of me. I wouldn’t have a career if it weren’t for the gay community.”

Madonna added that she “can totally relate to the idea of feeling isolated and alienated. I was incredibly lonely as a child, as a teenager. I have to say I never felt like I fit in in school. I wasn’t a jock. I wasn’t an intellectual. There was no group that I felt a part of. I just felt like a weirdo.”

Eventually Madge’s gay ballet teacher took her under his wing and introduced her to a “community of artists of other unique individuals who told me it was good and okay to be different and brought me to my first gay disco and ironically made me feel I was part of the world and it was okay to be different.”

Madonna says she talks to her kids about “not judging people who are different.”

After getting somewhat emotional, Madge added: “The concept that we are torturing teenagers because they are gay. It’s kind of like I said earlier. It’s unfathomable. It’s like lynching black people or Hitler exterminating Jews. Sorry if I’m going on a rampage right now but this is America. The land of the free and the home of the brave.”

Her solution? For everyone to try to get through each day “without gossiping” about anybody. “And not only that. Not even listening to gossip. Walking away from it. Can you imagine what your day would be like?”

She may be 52 years old, but Madonna can still dress with the wildest of ’em.

The pop queen wore a daring pair of over-the-knee PVC boots to present an award at the Fashion Delivers Gala in New York City on Wednesday night (November 3).

After famously spending hours at the gym, Madge was more than happy to show off her toned thighs in the skin-hugging shoes. She completed the look with a silver crocheted tunic.

Madonna was attending the fifth annual gala for Fashion Delivers, a charitable foundation through which manufacturers can donate clothing to disaster victims.

Since it was set up the foundation has distributed more than $55 million of clothing to needy recipients, including the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Madonna was seen leaving Locanda Locatelli restaurant in the Mayfair area of central London, England this evening (October 18).

Despite her age, the 52-year-old pop star proudly rocked pigtails during her evening out with friends.

Meanwhile, after dumping hunky Brazilian model Jesus Luz, Madge has reportedly landed herself a new toyboy.

According to New York Post, the Hung Up singer has hooked up with 33-year-old choreographer Brahim Rachiki. The pair were seen out Thursday night at New York hot spot SL.

“They came in together and were holding hands in a private area,” an onlooker said. “Madonna got up and was dancing for an hour straight before going back to her man. They immediately started making out in front of other guests. After working the dance floor, they found more private seating where they hugged and kissed for the rest of the night.”

Madonna’s rep declined to comment.

Madonna attended the launch of Material Girl at Macy’s Herald Square in New York City today (September 22).

Joined by daughter/designer Lola Leon and the face of the brand, rocker/actress Taylor Momsen, the 52-year-old music icon was on hand to lend some star power as her teenage daughter begins her foray in the spotlight.

Madonna and Lola collaborated on the new collection, which will be available in the store this autumn, and Madonna told reporters she’s very proud of what her teenage daughter has helped her create.

Says Madge: “She has a good sense of style and I think we complement each other… I’m very proud.”

Lourdes adds, “There’s definitely clashes but it all works out because she has great style.”

The teen, dressed in a Joan Jett-like leather jacket, admits that like most young girls, she worships her mom’s style, but she can no longer walk in her shoes – literally.

Lourdes explains, “It’s so annoying because my feet skipped her shoe size.”

Madonna suffered a case of temporary camera-shyness as she walked to the set of her latest movie, W.E., shooting on location in London on Sunday (August 29).

The Material Girl has been accused of distorting history with the script of her movie, which centres around the abdication of Britain’s King Edward VIII after he refused to give up his lover, divorced American socilaite Wallis Simpson, in favour of the throne.

According to reports, insiders say Madonna’s depiction of the 1936 abdication crisis is overly sympathetic to Edward and Mrs Simpson.

The $25 film project, currently being shot in Britain and France and due for release next year, intersperses Edward’s affair with the American divorcee with a love story set in 1998.

In a further Royal controversy, Madge has reportedly included a “friendly” portrayal of Mohamed Al Fayed, who still insists Princess Diana and his son Dodi were murdered by the Royal establishment in 1997.

Says one source close to the project: “The portrayal is so far removed from reality they’re almost unrecognizable to anyone who knows the facts. The film may work as entertainment but it certainly doesn’t work as history.”
