In a press call yesterday to promote the September 13 launch on the Hallmark Channel of her revamped Martha Stewart Show and to talk about her involvement in the network’s daytime programming, the domestic diva was more than happy to talk about an upcoming prime-time special interview show.
Martha Stewart Presents airs September and features Martha chatting for an hour with four females from the fashion industry — Donna Karan, Diane Von Furstenberg, Tory Burch and Jenna Lyons of J. Crew.
“My favourite interviewers are Larry King and Barbara Walters – both of whom are kind of retiring,” Martha told reporters. “Who’s going to take their place as the serious, great interviewer? I’m throwing my name in there because I love to talk to people.”
She added, “I’m attracted to groups of people, like the hottest sexiest young male movie stars. Who are they? Who are they really? How do they live? How do they cope? That’s another potential interview show. I’m throwing out scenarios that may or may not happen.”
Martha continued to brainstorm, saying, “My favourite comedians and why — and how do they come up with their material? And of course there are other people in the fashion industry. I have a lot of ideas.”
As for getting political? Martha’s game. “Of course, the first lady, the secretrary of state and, of course, other people in that category who are outstanding examples of success. I would hope I could it once a month.”
For now, keep your eye out for Martha going on “dates” during her show with “two young men” who have joined the show. ” They take me to their kinds of places and I take them to my kinds of places.”
