It was date night for Nick Lachey and girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo in Los Angeles last night (October 21).

After enjoying a lovely dinner for two, the happy couple could be seen leaving an upscale restaurant as they descended to their next romantic destination.

Interestingly, Nicka and Vanessa were dining just two tables away from Jessica Simpson and her new boyfriend Eric Johnson at Red-O restaurant. Jessica arrived with her mom, new ex-NFL player beau and a couple of other people, while Nick dined with his now longtime love.

While the ex-lovebirds reportedly sat very near to each other, they did not speak the entire night.

Nick and Vanessa departed first, while Jessica’s mom attempted to help her daughter escape paparazzi by asking guards if her party could exit through the back door. The group eventually left through a side door.

Newlyweds stars Jessica and Nick divorced in 2006 after four years of marriage.

Good pals Nick Lachey and Matt Leinart enjoyed a boys night out while Buena Park, CA yesterday (October 20).

The musician and the foolball player joined forces for an evening of thrills and chills at Knott’s Scary Farm Halloween Haunt at Knott’s Berry Farm.

Meanwhile, NBC announced today that Nick is set to return as host of the second season of The Sing-Off.

The a cappella singing competition series is being scheduled as a five-night holiday event premiering December 6. The battle of voices will then continue December 8, 13 and 15, culminating in a live finale December 20, during which one of 10 a capella groups will walk away with the $100 000 prize and a Sony Music recording contract.

The Sing-Off will feature a cappella groups performing popular songs from various genres, arranged and sung like you’ve never heard before,” NBC said in a release. “There is no lip-synching, back-up band or safety net. Ultimately, America will decide the winning group.”

Returning celebrity judges Ben Folds, Shawn Stockman and Nicole Scherzinger will critique each performance, narrowing down the finalists to the top three groups competing for America’s vote.
