(RED) supporter and mom-to-be Penelope Cruz lit the Empire State Building (RED) today (December 1) on World AIDS Day in New York City.
The event helped launch (RED)’s new awareness campaign, ‘An AIDS Free Generation is Due in 2015’ to highlight the possibility that by 2015 it is possible to virtually eliminate transmission of HIV from mother-to-child.
Penelope also appears on the front cover of Vogue as a face of the (RED) campaign.
Spearheaded by Bono and Bobby Shriver it was created to fight AIDS in Africa.
Penelope explained that she got involved with the project to “help us remember the suffering that millions of people live with.”
