Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz broke out the ugly Christmas sweater, swept their hair back into the mullet of yore and shook their holiday printed pijama pants down to Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica, CA today (December 11).

Joined by their son Bronx Mowgli, the former celeb couple was all smiles as they pose for a family portrait onboard the Old Navy Awkward Holiday Photo Mobile.

The photo is from, and Old Navy has tapped Mike Bender and Doug Chernack — the guys behind that website (and the book Awkward Family Photos) — to rove around this holiday season in a vehicle full of awkward-making props to help you and yours generate an appropriately uncomfortable yuletide digital photo.

Next stop for the Simpson-Wentz clan? Nicole Richie‘s wedding to Joel Madden this weekend. Preparations have been going on all week at her superstar father Lionel Richie‘s Bel Air mansion, with marquees erected, furniture moved in and teams of workmen on site.

While Ashlee and Christina Aguilera are expected at the event, Nicole’s one-time best friend Paris Hilton has been left off the guest list.

These days, Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz are happy to be invited to any event.

Such was the case as the former celebrity couple attended the Garfield Hundreds Pop Up Gallery in Santa Monica, CA on Thursday (December 9).

Pete and Ashlee could be seen hamming it up with none other than Garfield himself as they took in an evening of fun and nostalgia.

From the event, Pete tweeted: “At the hundreds x garfield – so many good artists/good peeps. Lasagna!”

Meanwhile, Ashlee is opening up branching out in terms of presents when it comes to the holidays this season.

“[Bronx] just had his birthday, and he got a lot of gifts,” the 26-year-old starlet tells People mag. “He’ll still have a great Christmas, and he’s really into Thomas the Train, but we have enough Thomas, so we do not need that this year!”

Ashlee Simpson was spotted taking a trip to her local CVS drug store yesterday (November 23) for a few Thanksgiving decorations.

The former pop star was joined by her musician husband Pete Wentz and son Bronx Mowgli as she did some last-minute shopping.

Meanwhile, Ashlee says her sister Jessica is on a natural high since she got engaged.

Speaking at Google’s unveiling of in New York City recently, the 26-year-old dished about her sister’s recent engagement to Eric Johnson.

“I think she’s on a cloud right now,” she said.

The star said the couple’s wedding date is still unknown, but one thing that is known is how she feels about her future brother-in-law, claiming, “he is amazing.”

Out for a family outing, Ashlee Simpson, Pete Wentz and son Bronx Mowgli were spotted shopping in Sherman Oaks, CA today (November 3).

The rocker parents continue to enjoy each others company which seems to rub off on son Bronx, too!

Meanwhile, Ashlee is dishing on her sister Jessica Simpson and her current beau Eric Johnson.

“He’s just really easygoing,” Ashlee says about the former NFL player who reportedly joins the sisters on double dates.

Ashlee is also opening up about the fact that she is working on a new album. However, there is no end date in sight as she is prioritizing her son right now.

“I’m taking my time and focusing on being a mom,” she says.

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz were spotted taking their son Bronx Wentz shopping on Melrose in Hollywood on Friday (October 22).

While Ashlee looked lovely with her new short blonde hair, little Bronx was more than happy to show off his matching blonde curls.

In her fetching navy swing coat, black tights and shoe boots, the actress/singer looked every inch a polished beauty as she spent the afternoon with her family.

Meanwhile, it appears Ashlee has already figured out what she’s dressing up as for Halloween. “I know it’s random, and about to be halloween,” she tweets, “but I’m going with ELF. Haha.”

Our for a rare public appearance, Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz attended the premiere of the film Runaway at the Harmony Gold Preview House in Los Angeles on Monday night (October 18).

After checking out rapper Kanye West’s film debut, former Fall Out Boy bassist Pete tweeted: “Just saw Kanye West showing of full length “Runaway” — pretty amazing.”

While Pete looked the same as he always, does, Ashlee was proudly rocking a new pixie cut with bleach blonde locks.

Meanwhile, doting dad Pete says he has something in common with rapper Eminem who recenly said he doesn’t use profanity at home.

The pint-sized rocker has reportedly quickly learned not to curse in front of his son Bronx.

He tells Us Weekly: “I’m finally being able to get my mouth to behave itself as far as saying naughty words. He says everything! It’s one of those things where he’s so awesome, he just makes me smile. Even when he says (bad words) back it’s like, ‘No way!’ He’s becoming a human being. It’s so crazy to watch something that was a baby become something so animated, so smart and so personable.”

Now that Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson have been virtually wiped off the celebrity map, they have all the time in the world for play date with their son.

Making the most of their freed up schedule, the former Fall Out Boy bassist and his former pop star/actress wife enjoyed a day at the park with their son Bronx Mowgli in Sherman Oaks, CA today (September 26).

Meanwhile, if you can believe it or not, Ashlee is still working on her new album. She recently told a reporter that “I’m writing [a new album] now.” The 25-year-old mother says her new sound will have a more mature “folk-feel.”

You know, because it worked so well for Mandy Moore.
