Prince William and wife Kate Middleton visited the Summerfield Community Centre in Birmingham, England today (August 19). The location is near where three men were killed during last week’s riots.

While Wills was dapper in a navy suit, the lovely Duchess Catherine wore a silk blouse and matching pencil skirt by Alexander McQueen.

The couple began their visit with a private meeting with the parents of the men who died.

Clarence House tweeted today that the Duke and Duchess “are meeting local residents, emergency services and community group representatives in Birmingham #riots.”

The factory continues to churn out more junk with the likeness of Will and Kate.

Today (AUgust 18) at Hamleys in London, England, Arklu launched the Princess Catherine and Prince William Wedding dolls.

You can buy the royal couple, or just Princess Catherine. For every unit sold, Arklu will donate a portion to charity. Dolls will be on sale at http://www.arklu.com, major toy retailers and amazon.com. The box set of both Princess Catherine and Prince William dolls are being sold for 159.95; the Princess Catherine Wedding Doll is priced at $79.95.

Arklu got confirmation from Clarence House that the royals “would not wish to object to the production of a doll.” In other words, they approve. But what do you think?

JUST-ENGAGED PRINCE WILLIAM AND KATE MIDDLETON DISH DETAILS

In a brand new BBC interview this afternoon, Prince William said that he “just decided it was the right time” to pop the question to Kate Middleton while “on holiday” in Kenya.

“We’d been talking about marriage for a while so it wasn’t a massive surprise,” he said. “I had been planning it for a while. It really felt right in Africa. I had done some planning to show my romantic side.”

He added: “I was carrying the ring around for three weeks in a rucksack before that. And I literally would not let it go, wherever I went.”

For her part, Kate said, “It was a total shock and very exciting.”

A few more highlights from the happy couple’s new interview:

Kate on her ring, which was Princess Diana’s engagement ring from Prince Charles: “[It is] beautiful. I just hope I look after it. It’s very, very special.”

William on their calm demeanor: “We’re like ducks. So calm on the surface, but little feet going crazy underwater.”

William on whether it was love at first sight: “When I first met Kate I knew there was something very special about her. We went through a few stumbling blocks like any other relationship, but we picked ourselves up.” He added: “I’m obviously extremely funny and she loves that.”

Kate on their 8-year relationship: “When you go out with someone you go through the good times, the bad times, you can really learn things about yourself.”

William on taking his time to pop the question: “We were planning it for at least a year, if not longer. Kate wasn’t in the dark.” He needed to finish his military training. “We both decided now was a really good time.”

Kate on whether the Princess Diana legacy is intimidating: “I would’ve loved to have met her. She’s an inspirational person to look up to, this day and looking forward at things.” William chimed in with, “It’s about carving her own future. No one’s trying to fill my mother’s shoes.”
