RIHANNA GOES LONG IN THE BIG APPLE

Posted in Rihanna on November 15, 2010 by fadedblog

Getting an early start to the work week, Rihanna was spotted stepping out of her New York City hotel this morning (November 15) alongside her bodyguard.

The Only Girl singer was wearing a long red wig, carrying an Yves Saint Laurent tote and still wearing her new favourite “F*ck You” necklace.

Meanwhile, reviews for Rihanna’s new album, Loud, are out and they’re praiseful to say the least.

Per The Canadian Press:

Rihanna somewhat lost that spark on “Rated R.” Though it was a decent album that contained the gem “Rude Boy,” the performer tried to take her edge to the next level and went too far.

Thankfully she’s back on track with “Loud,” an 11-track set that is top-notch from its opener, the jamming fetish-revealer “S&M” to the closing number, the sequel to the riveting abuse tale “Love the Way You Lie,” where Eminem this time takes a back seat to Rihanna’s emotional roller coaster ride. And what’s in between is equally as fulfilling — or better.

Per NME:

Overall though, the fit of the rest of the album is admirable. If ‘Rated R’ seemed disparate sometimes, ‘Loud’’s experiments feel more organic, its tone better paced, from the Caribbean-tinged anthem for doomed youth of ‘Man Down’ via the glossy, dark tectonic beats of ‘What’s My Name?’ (featuring Drake) to the ludicrously banging trancepop of ‘Only Girl (In The World)’.

Per the Boston Herald:

The majority of “Loud” boasts lite-pop bedroom jams, ballads and fierce club bangers, as a supremely confident Rihanna pours on extra doses of her barely-there Barbadian accent at key moments and pushes the limits of her vocal range.

Perhaps most telling is that guest femcee Nicki Minaj, for perhaps the first time in her young career, fails to outshine a more established star. On “Raining Men,” a song that could serve as the sequel to Beyonce’s “Video Phone,” Rihanna’s utter cool easily outdistances Minaj’s trying-too-hard tactics, clarifying who’s in charge and relegating the Young Money princess to second-fiddle.

RIHANNA AND MATT KEMP: MILAN MATES

It was date night for Rihanna and boyfriend Matt Kemp on Tuesday night (November 9).

After performing on the Italian version of The X Factor, Riri and her professional athlete beau were spotted dining at an upscale restaurant in Milan.

The Only Girl singer looked chic as always, wearing a sheer Firetrap sweater and carrying a yellow Prada purse.

Italy is Rihanna’s lastest stop on her promotional tour for her new album, Loud. She also performed at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Madrid, Spain, where she also met up with her good friend, pop star Katy Perry.

The night before, Rihanna turned rock chick and surprised Bon Jovi fans by joining the band in the middle of a performance of their classic hit Livin’ On A Prayer.

Meanwhile, Rihanna says she hopes to work with Eminem again. The 22-year-old starlet collaborated with the rapper on the track Love The Way You Lie and the sequel to the track appears on her new album Loud.

Speaking to Britain’s New! magazine, she says: “It was great working with Eminem on Love The Way You Lie and I’d love to collaborate with him again. Actually, we’ve already been talking about it! I think he’s a genius. I love his lyrics – they’re unique and very interesting to listen to because he tells a story, but he does it in a very unusual way. He’s one of the cleverest poets around right now.”

RIHANNA PERFORMS IN ITALY ON ‘X FACTOR’

Rihanna gave a stellar performance her latest hit The Only Girl (In The World) on the Italian version of The X Factor in Milan today (November 9).

Dressed in what can only be described as a floral bra and panties, the Bajan-born beauty worked the stage like a pro as she got down and dirty with some hunky back-up dancers.

Meanwhile, Rihanna says her BFF Katy Perry wants her to marry Matt Kemp. But the 22 year-old insists that despite Katy’s recent marriage to British comedian Russell Brand, she and Matt won’t be following them down the aisle any time soon.

Riri tells Britain’s More magazine: “Katy thinks I should get married now, but she needs to clam down on that one. I mean, one day, but not yet – we’re having too much fun.”

Rihanna started dating 26-year-old Matt in January and she seems smitten with the baseball player.

She adds: “Matt is great, he’s my number one critic.”

RIHANNA’S ‘X-FACTOR’ FOOD FIGHT

Keeping a low profile, Rihanna was spotted making her way out of the Fountain Studios on Sunday (October 31) in London, England.

The R&B songstress was dressed in a warm fur coat as she left right before ex-Pussycat Doll Carmit Bachar and ex American Idol judge Simon Cowell made their way out of the building.

Rihanna caused chaos on the set of the hit reality TV show after her dancers started a food fight following her performance.

The star sang her latest single Only Girl (In The World) on the talent show and a table full of sweet treats was set up especially for her appearance.

Her dancers began throwing cakes around after the song had ended, prompting Rihanna to joke, “It’s fun! I want some, it tastes good!”

But the food fight caused a headache for the show’s bosses, who had just a small commercial break to clear up the mess.

Simon’s pop star pal Sinitta, who was in the audience, told her followers on Twitter, “The stage is covered in cake, cream, cupcakes!!! Hahaha they are slipping all over trying to clean it up in time!! One minute to get the gunk off! I don’t think they’ll do it!”

However, the show resumed on schedule – with a perfectly clean stage.

RIHANNA SHOWS OFF HER ASSETS ON MUSIC VIDEO SET

Rihanna was in a cheerful mood as she walked around the set of her music video in New York City (October 28).

The R&B singer had heads turning everywhere she went in a skin colored bustier and some very short shorts.

Meanwhile, Rihanna says she has learned to put herself first and be ”true” to herself.

The Only Girl — who is dating baseball star Matt Kemp — has realized the most important thing in life is to support her own decisions and not do things just to please other people.

She tells Britain’s Marie Claire magazine: “The most important thing is to be happy and true to yourself. I don’t want to look back at this in 30 years from now and say, ‘I did it all to make them happy and I didn’t enjoy.’ I want to be able to say people loved me because of who I am. People have a lot more respect for you when you’re yourself and let them see your imperfections. That’s the big connection.”

The Barbados-born beauty was assaulted at the hands of then-boyfriend Chris Brown in February 2009 but believes her ordeal made her the person she is now.

She explains: “I couldn’t have been the woman I am today, or the friend, or the sister, or the artist, or the role model I am today if I didn’t go through what I went through in the last year and a half.”

RIHANNA: BARNES & NOBLE BEAUTY

Taking a break from her recording career, Rihanna was at Barnes & Noble, 5th Avenue in New York City today (October 27) to signs copies of Rihanna: Rihanna.

The Only Girl singer looked lovely in floral as she spent two hours meeting and greeting fans who waited all day in line to meet her.

The book is a photo tome featuring images from her whirlwind year in the spotlight, including appearances at fashion shows, awards show performances and from the European leg of her Last Girl on Earth tour . Her next album, Loud, is out November 16.

Meanwhile, Rihanna opens up about her stormy relationship with Chris Brown, which ended when Brown beat her the night before the Grammys last year.

She tells Marie Claire UK about her epiphany. “I was in New York at the Trump Hotel and I woke up and I just knew I was over it. It was a different day. I felt different. I didn’t feel lonely,” she said. “I felt like I wanted to get up and be in the world. That was a great, great feeling.”
